『在「當代民主政治的延續與變遷」課程中，我學習到許多關於民主發展的知識及文獻理論，其中包含假新聞、選民理性、香港事件、自由之家、民主理論等等。藉由每周的口頭報告與課堂討論，增進了我對民主發展的知識，以及我對政治學的認識。同時，也因為這個課程給予我機會，學習如何使用英語上課。是故，在經過整個學期的學習之後，我獲得了三項主要收穫：

首先，獲取知識方面，藉由每周的文獻閱讀，可以幫助我理解學者們是如何解釋民主發展產生的現象，我亦運用這個機會提出我對文章的疑問及批判；第二，雖然全英文課程對我而言有些壓力，但我認為這是一個很好的挑戰，能使我實際運用英文獲取知識；第三，透過密集的課堂討論，使我能夠理解其他同學對於不同議題的心得與發想，並從中了解未來可研究的項目。』

This course will introduce students to the voluminous literature on democracy, democratization, and development. It will sharpen students’ understanding of the basic principles, theories, conceptual tools, and comparative methods. After going over concepts and measurements of democracy and democratization, this course will cover the structural factors of democratization, democratic consolidation, and decay. Then, this course will compare policy outcomes between democracies and non-democracies as well as within democracies. Finally, the last weeks of the course will turn to the future prospects and challenges for democracy and democratization around the world.
