This talk surveys my research applying game theory to political institutions and strategic behavior. Drawing on work in social choice, electoral systems, international relations, and constitutional design, I illustrate how formal models clarify puzzles in voting, collective action, and crisis bargaining. Through examples such as strategic voting under plurality and runoff rules, nonseparable preferences and divided government, and deterrence in international security, I show how theoretical insights can inform institutional design and policy debates.
