時間:2026年2月25日(三)14:00-16:00

地點:政治所演講廳(社SS 3010-2)

語言:英文

活動亮點:

This talk argues that external security threats increase bias against female political leaders. Using two large cross-national survey studies, it shows that people in more hostile security environments are more likely to believe men make better leaders. A second dataset finds that cumulative lifetime exposure to severe threats—war and interstate rivalry—also strengthens preferences for male over female leaders. The talk proposes three mechanisms: greater demand for “masculine” defense traits, shifts toward conservative ideology, and rising societal militarization. Effects vary by gender, with men reacting more strongly than women, and both present and past threat exposure matter.
